Country Bumpkin...

For all my non-country music readers... this one is for you!

Hubs and I had an ass kickin' time yesterday at the Brothers of the Sun country music tour!  I absolutely loved this lineup.  We had an opportunity to see Chesney last summer as well and I so want his life... beaches, music, friends and happiness.  It simply doesn't get much better than that.  I even had Davis convinced we could live out of an Airstream on a beach in Cabo by the end of the night!  Of course a few cold, tall ones may have influenced him just a bit.

So I've included some pics, some lyrics and some links to my fave songs from each of the them.  Take a sec and listen to them, country music haters.  Especially the lyrics.  As you know, my entire life is a soundtrack so you'll get why I love these faves so much.

First up... Jake Owen.

Joshua Ryan "Jake" Owen is an American country music artist. Signed to RCA Records Nashville in 2005, he released his debut album Startin' with Me that year.

My fave Jake Owen song is Barefoot Blue Jean Night.

Never gonna grow up, never gonna slow down, we were shining like lighters in the middle of a rock show.  Should tell you why I love him.

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals... ah Grace.  I love her so incredibly much!

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals is an American rock band from Vermont. Formed in 2002 in Waitsfield, VT, they began their career as an indie band, self-producing their albums and touring extensively in the jam bands and music festivals circuit, playing as many as 200 gigs in a year. In 2005 they signed for Hollywood Records and since then they have published three critically acclaimed studio albums, encompassing rock subgenres such as blues rock, folk rock, hard rock, and alternative rock. Their third, self-titled album (2010) has been a major commercial success, topping iTunes charts and receiving international attention.

My fave Grace Potter song is Paris (Oh la la).  Not because of the lyrics, because of the beat.  She is so awesome... I seriously want her entire catalog on my running list.  She is my new Joan Jett.

Tim McGraw.  I never really cared to much about him.  Especially once he married the no talent hack Faith Hill.  Go ahead, kill me for being honest.. but I've never been really impressed with her (although she has gotten monumentally better with age).

Tim has a new work out regime.  Obviously.  Because he is SMOKING HOT.  I could not stop telling Hubs how hot he was all night long.  He just kept patting me on the head, saying he wouldn't mind taking on Faith Hill if I wanted to give Tim McGraw a shot.  Do I have a shot?  Don't know, but may die trying!

Fave McGraw song has to be Southern Voice.  Hubs broke at the concert and teared thinking of our son entering the Navy next week.  He couldn't be more proud of him.  Lyrics that broke him?  Jesus is my friend
America is my home
Sweet iced tea and Jerry Lee
Daytona Beach
That's what gets to me
I can feel it in my bones

Yep, we love America.

And last, but certainly NOT least.... Kenny Chesney.  Oh Kenny, how I love thee.

Kenneth Arnold "Kenny" Chesney is an American country music singer and songwriter. Chesney has recorded 15 albums, 14 of which have been certified gold or higher by the RIAA.
I guess if I had to try to pick my fave Chesney song (which is impossible), I would say it would have to be Never Wanted Nothing More.  But just so we are clear, I love pretty much all of his music... especially all of the beachy type songs.

The lyrics define me perfectly:

Well, I'm what I am
And I'm what I'm not.
And I'm sure happy
With what I've got.
I live to love and laugh a lot,
And thats all I need.
Yep, that's me.

So enjoy the links and listening today.  Hope you have a fantastic Monday!

Jen

  1. LOVE it and so wish we were at the concert. Be sure to play "Boys of Fall" when football starts. Makes me teary-eyed every time I hear it.
